Bauhaus Museum Identity Re-Brand & Promotional Material
The rebranding and identity of the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, Germany was inspired by the Bauhaus style itself. Often credited as one of the most influential design movements of the 20th century, the Bauhaus school of thought focused on the fundamentals of color and form to develop simple, rational and functional design solutions. Today, Bauhaus is well known for its unique aesthetic that creatively combines the fine arts with arts and crafts in addition to its longstanding influence on modern and contemporary art.

Master Logo

Logo Variations / Grayscale / Dark and Light

When conceptualizing the master logo, I was inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's color and form theory. I layered primary colors in primary shapes to form a logotype featuring the lowercase letters “b” and “h” for “bauhaus”. The primary shapes and colors are the “building blocks” used within the logomark and can be combined in different ways to create the “haus” just as the various theories and fundamental ideology of the Bauhaus school of thought is the foundation upon which, the design movement was built.

One of the distinct architectural elements of the Bauhaus Archive’s main building is a series of tall, oblong semi-circles and I chose to incorporate that shape into the logo design.

The new brand identity communicates that the Bauhaus Archive is a place to learn the basics of modern design and spark creativity by exploring rational and functional design solutions.
